Public hearing on apartment sewer easement and development code rewrite among September 27 council agenda items

A public hearing on a proposal to replace a public sewer easement with a private sewer line for the planned Apollo Apartments and discussion of a work plan for a long-awaited rewrite of the city’s development code make part of the items on the town of Edmonds Council agenda for Tuesday September 27th.

The council will also receive four presentations: proclamations for Arbor Day and National Arts and Humanities Month, a brief update on a new Aboriginal artwork for the exterior of the Edmonds Waterfront Center and the annual report of the Edmonds Arts Commission.

With respect to the public hearing, the City of Edmonds is considering a building permit application for the 225-unit Apollo Apartments development, which is proposed for the southeast corner of 236th Street Southwest and Highway 99. According to the council agenda note, the development proposal includes releasing the existing 5-foot-wide public storm sewer easements located along the western property line. The proponent proposes to replace the existing public sanitary sewer line with a new, privately owned and maintained sewer line.

The council is also set to hear reports on the city’s efforts to receive Salmon-Safe certification and spending on its federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation.
